Have your clinic step into the future of medical research with NUgene

One of the NUgene Project's main objectives is to facilitate genetic research by physicians at Northwestern-affiliated institutions. All DNA samples are clinically annotated to enable investigators to ask a variety of research questions and investigate potential associations between genes and disease, therapeutic outcomes and/or drug reactions. By allowing NUgene recruitment in your clinic, you are helping NUgene enroll participants while also creating a supply of DNA samples which may be accessed in the future for your own research. If you are currently collecting samples from patients within your specialty, NUgene can supply controls for your study. In addition, the Center for Genetic Medicine can provide assistance with study design and genotyping services.

If you are interested in having your patients enroll in the NUgene Project, please consider establishing a "recruitment schedule" with NUgene's Clinical Director. Once the schedule is established and IRB approval is secured, a research coordinator can regularly visit your clinic and enroll your patients into the study. During that time, the research coordinator is onsite to inform patients about the project, assist them with the informed consent, HIPAA authorization and health questionnaire forms, and enroll them in the project. Arrangements for the blood draw will be determined based on your clinical logistics.
